NYS Halls of Fame Welcomes Steve Janaszak of the “Miracle on Ice” Gold Medal Team

This week we welcome Steve Janaszak, former goaltender and member of the legendary 1980 U.S. Olympic “Miracle on Ice” gold medal-winning hockey team.  Steve is being inducted into the New York State Hockey Hall of Fame.

Steve shares stories from his hockey journey, including his time starring at the University of Minnesota, where he helped lead the Golden Gophers to two NCAA Championships.  He reflects on what it was like being part of one of the greatest moments in sports history at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York

Steve discusses many things including, the atmosphere surrounding the “Miracle on Ice,” playing under head coach Herb Brooks, and the camaraderie of the 1980 Olympic team.  We also talk about the lasting impact of the Miracle on Ice team more than four decades later and why the story continues to resonate with sports fans everywhere.  It is a memorable conversation with a player connected to one of the most iconic moments in sports history.
