Dorofeyev traded as VGK navigates salary cap; seeks scoring fix.
Kelly McCrimmon said losing Pavel Dorofeyev was expected after his camp said they wanted more money than VGK could offer, while still staying cap compliant. McCrimmon chalked it up as "the business of hockey." The return from the New York Rangers was five draft picks, including a first rounder for the Golden Knights. The big question that now looms is how will VGK make up for Dorofeyev's 72 regular season goals the past two seasons? We feel VGK did much better than they would have done by giving Dorofeyev an offer sheet as even compensation in the form of draft picks would have come next season. The Golden Knights needed to replenish their draft capital now.
